The Al Thani Collection Foundation supports The Great Mughals at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London

9 November 2024 - 5 May 2025

The Al Thani Collection Foundation is pleased to be a lead supporter of the major exhibition The Great Mughals: Art, Architecture and Opulence at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London (until 5 May 2025).

This exhibition celebrates the extraordinary creative output and internationalist culture of the Golden Age of the Mughal Court (about 1560 – 1660) during the reigns of its most famous emperors: Akbar, Jahangir and Shah Jahan. It shines a light on one of the wealthiest courts in the world and tells the story of an immense early modern empire, largely untold within the U.K..

The exhibition also includes two loans from The Al Thani Collection; the wine cup of Emperor Jahangir (r. 1605-1627), the earliest known dated Mughal jade which is inscribed with Jahangir's titles and Persian verses in praise of wine; and a bejewelled, jade dagger set with gemstones.

The exhibition is curated by Susan Stronge, Senior Curator in the Asian Department of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
