The Al Thani Collection loans two objects to Treasures of the Mughal Court at the Hong Kong Palace Museum

6 août 2025 - 23 février 2026

Two objects from The Al Thani Collection are on loan at the exhibition Treasures of the Mughal Court, which opened on 6 August at the Hong Kong Palace Museum. This is Hong Kong’s first comprehensive exhibition dedicated to Mughal art; it celebrates the diverse artistic traditions and unparalleled craftsmanship from the "golden age" of the Mughal dynasty (1526–1857) through a display of over 100 precious artefacts.

The loans from The Al Thani Collection include the wine cup of Emperor Jahangir (r. 1605-1627), the earliest known dated Mughal jade which is inscribed with Jahangir's titles and Persian verses in praise of wine; and a bejewelled, jade dagger set with gemstones.

This exhibition is on view until 23 February 2026. It is jointly organised by the V&A and the Hong Kong Palace Museum, and sponsored by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. It follows on from the exhibition The Great Mughals: Art, Architecture and Opulence which was on view at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, from November 2024 to May 2025.
