Alongside Dr Jaffer, whose academic and curatorial work is focused on the meeting of European and Asian cultures, are Artistic Directors Dr Julian Raby (former lecturer at the University of Oxford and former director of the National Museum of Asian Art at the Smithsonian Institution) and Dr Abdul Rahman Azzam (author, historian and Senior Expert Advisor for AlMadar in 2023), working with Contemporary Art Curator and artist Muhannad Shono.

Building on the success of its inaugural edition which attracted over 600,000 visitors, the second IAB will return to the landmark SOM–designed and Aga Khan Award–winning Western Hajj Terminal at King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah. The curators will bring together historical artefacts and contemporary works of Islamic art from across the globe.
